Cordyceps Green Energy Smoothie
Cordyceps is always thought of as the athlete of the fungi world.
This probably has something to do with the fact that in 1993 the Chinese Women's Athletics Team broke three world records at the Olympics and their coach attributed their stamina and endurance to a brew made with cordyceps. Turns out there may have been some steroids in that brew as well but the accolade for cordyceps stuck.
Cordyceps does contain a molecule required for the synthesis of chemical energy and may help to support healthy lung function and oxygen carrying capacity which can add up to more energy and stamina. Anecdotal evidence does suggests that cordyceps does enhance subjective feelings of energy and has been used extensively in TCM for the elderly and debilitated. Did I mention that it appears to have a superior action on the sedentary and older amongst us, rather than the trained athletes?
This smoothie brings together the benefits of cordyceps with the calm focus of matcha, the slow energy of avocado and the micronutrients of spinach and banana. Perfect smoothie to go alongside the new lycra and gym membership :)
